About
An opinion can be bought.
Footage cannot.
Whimzi answers the only question that matters at 7pm on a Friday: what is this place like right now? It answers with the one thing nobody can fake — a clip filmed there, this hour, by somebody standing in it.
Why we built it
Trust in online reviews fell from 79% in 2020 to 38% in 2026. Reviews are retrospective and gameable, map photos are stale and supplied by the business, and Instagram is a highlight reel. None of them tell you whether the bar is packed or dead tonight, or whether the market is worth the drive right now.
So Whimzi does one thing. Every clip is filmed inside the app and stamped the moment it reaches us, which means the time on it is arithmetic, not a promise a modified phone could break. An opinion can be bought; a timestamp that the server wrote cannot. That is the entire product.
What Whimzi will never do
- No followersYou follow places, never people.
- No score on a personNo profile, no leaderboard, nobody to perform for.
- No camera rollOnly what was filmed in the app, just now.
- No algorithmThe clock decides the order. Nobody can pay to jump it.
- No hashtagsThe place and the time are the whole story.
- Public places onlyEvery moment shows exactly where it was filmed. Not homes.
Clips decay; places do not.
A clip is current for about an hour, recent for a day, then gone — nothing is recycled to make a screen look busy. What lasts is the place: somewhere things keep happening becomes a page of its own, earned by repetition, never curated into existence.
Every moment shows exactly where it was filmed, so Take me there lands on it rather than a block away. That is why Whimzi is for public places — a bar, a market, a street — and never somebody's home.
